Essex Power Plant helps meet members' peak energy demands

Essex Power Plant

The Essex Power Plant is a 107-megawatt, simple-cycle gas-based combustion turbine located in southeast Missouri. It’s one of four peaking plants owned by AECI.

Features of the power plant include the main generator, substation and various support buildings. It’s suited to meet peak demands because it can be started and stopped more quickly than AECI’s intermediate and baseload generating facilities.

Unit 1 is a 1999 Siemens simple-cycle unit that began operating in June 1999.
