Meet Thomas, the mojo behind our mission
Thomas first worked a year with the cooperative as an operations engineering intern before finishing his electrical engineering degree and joining Associated full time in 2016. His recent work to develop a real-time contingency analysis tool, which enables operators to monitor and prevent problems on the 69-kV transmission system, earned him Associated’s prestigious 2019 Excel Award for Employee of the Year in a Technical Field.
The math involved in electrical engineering is fun for him and led him to switch careers after seven years as a nurse. “I’m a big-time math guy, … I really like working on power models, simulating a power system, the characteristics, scenarios … It’s my favorite part of the job.”
