Associated Electric Cooperative is a member-owned cooperative, so its employees work for those we serve. That simplicity drives our governance, focus, financial stability – just about every aspect of our business – and requires an engaged and skilled workforce, committed to meeting our mission every day.

Every employee, regardless of whether they work at one of our generation plants or in an office, plays a vital part in meeting our mission. As a high-performing organization, Associated provides challenging work, development, training, competitive compensation and benefits, positive work atmosphere and opportunities to grow and develop your career in a stable, yet changing industry.

Collaborative culture

Associated’s focus on members instead of shareholder profits creates a unique and collaborative culture where individuals can grow, excel and manage resources for the benefit of member-owners.

Despite its position as one of the largest and strongest cooperatives in the country, Associated maintains a warm, family-oriented atmosphere that supports relationships, workforce flexibility, professional and personal growth, holistic well-being and shared values.

A strong sense of community

While employees focus on strategic energy projects, they also work for the sustainable development of communities. This means, giving back to the community is woven into the fabric of our culture.

Nonunion employees are offered one day of paid time off each year for a community service event of their choosing, and funds are set aside to donate to causes in our three major locations. In addition, the cooperative supports various charity events, military hiring, employee resource groups, educational scholarships in the communities surrounding our power plants and more.
